Why sponsor?
Giving a little each month saves lives!
Occasionally our shelter receives a "special needs" kitty who has a health issue requiring additional resources
for medicine and care. You can help FieldHaven provide care for these special cats by becoming a sponsor.
This is a program that gives back!
For as little as $10 (or more) you can help save a cat with special needs. But that's not all! You will receive monthly letters
about your sponsor cat's life at the shelter, photos of your cat, and a special letter about your sponsor cat's new home, if adopted.
If your sponsor cat is adopted, we'll give you a new sponsor cat.

Lindy |
In November I will celebrate my 4th anniversary at FieldHaven. You might not think that I should be
"celebrating" the fact that I live my life at a shelter. I would say that's pretty true for
most of the cats that come to FieldHaven. But, for me, this really is my home - maybe not forever because
you never know what life is going to bring. At FieldHaven I pretty much have my way with everything.
I have dozens of volunteers who watch out for me and give me whatever I want. They worry about me everyday.
"Where's Lindy today?" "Has Lindy had her wet food today?" "Is Lindy warm (or cool) enough?"
I get the run of the ranch but mainly spend my time around the Cat Trailer, the barn and Preston's shop
(he doesn't like it when I go in there!). I get all the treats I want, lots of brushing and people are always
cooing over me, telling me how fabulous and beautiful I am. What's not to like about this life?
I came to FieldHaven in November 2005 from a rescuer in another county. I came with a very short resume; 3-4 year
old spayed, tortoiseshell polydactyl (many toes) female with a nice personality. That's all FieldHaven was told
and I didn't dare fill them in on the rest for fear they'd turn me away! I had some health problems and some so-called
"behavior" issues (not that I think I have any issues).
When Dr. Peterson first examined me she reported that I was not revealing my true age - I was really 6 or 7 years old.
Then I was found to have some immune system problems; I had a condition called Stomatitis which is basically severe,
painful gingivitis. It's like my body was actually allergic to my teeth. I ended up having most of my teeth removed
last year. That helped but I still have to receive regular injections to keep my mouth from being inflamed and sore.
I do love to eat wet food but I don't eat a lot at one time. This worries the volunteers who care for me but I'm just
watching my figure.
I hate to be indoors. Just hate it! Several years ago one of the volunteers tried to adopt me. She had the most
beautiful home and she gave me everything I could possibly want. But I cried and cried until she brought me back to
FieldHaven. I am much happier with green grass under my feet.

Hot Rod |
With those captivating eyes, Hot Rod always grabs the attention of potential adopters. She has a bubbly personality, a beautiful coat and is a Manx. What's not to like? Not much except for the fact that Hot Rod suffers from a congenital spinal defect that causes bowel and bladder dysfunction. In short, Hot Rod needs to have her bladder expressed up to 3 times daily and have daily medication to encourage bowel movements. Not exactly something your average adopter is willing to consider taking on.
Hot Rod came to FieldHaven as a kitten when she was found in the bushes near our local spay/neuter clinic. Her condition wasn't apparent for several days. But pretty much from the very beginning she has had to have this special care each day. We have limited staff to administer her "potty" needs so there are times when she needs to be boarded with our vet.
We hope someday that special person will come along for Hot Rod but, realistically, that may never happen. Hot Rod has a happy, full life at FieldHaven with many feline friends as well as an army of caring volunteers so if she never gets adopted she has a pretty full life. Of course, a permanent home with her "own" people would be optimal.
Your support of Hot Rod will help us provide the extensive care Hot Rod requires.
