When we started participating in the national Home 4 the Holidays campaign in 2003 we sent 20 felines home that first year.
We thought that was great but during the 2004 campaign, over 40 kitties rang in the New Year in a new home.
2005 was an even better year with 59 kitties adopted from November 12 through January 6!
FieldHaven Felines were center stage at Il Giardino in downtown Lincoln, performing for holiday shoppers
every day until Christmas Eve. The popular holiday window display was just one of the ways FieldHaven promoted
the Home 4 the Holidays campaign.
Little Miss Placer Princess, Kelli Furrer and Queen, Miquela Salinas held court with shopkeepers in downtown
Lincoln with their donation jar campaign. A number of stores participated by placing collection jars on their
counters. Several hundred dollars was raised throughout the holiday season. Kelli and Miquela promoted their
project through the Lincoln News Messenger and speaking to downtown businesses about the royal treatment they
feel all cats should receive.
Barnes and Noble once again generously included FieldHaven in their gift wrapping fundraisers and welcomed
adoptables in the store. Volunteers sharpened their wrapping skills and wrapped hundreds of presents during the
busy day. Several kitties were adopted too!
FieldHaven co-founders (and sisters) Jann Flanagan and Joy Smith were highlighted on KXTV's Sacramento and
Company accompanied by 3 feline stars.
FieldHaven Feline, Levi, was a multi-media star, appearing on Sacramento and Company and on the cover of the
December issue of the Pet Gazette! His "Gutter to the Cover" story warmed the hearts of all who watched or read.
FieldHaven volunteers Sharon Kurth and Marie Salers hosted a "Big Cats for Little Cats" fundraiser to showcase
the wonderful pictures and video footage of their summer safari to Kenya and Botswana. Those "big cats" hunted up
nearly $1200 in donations!
"Kitties in the Window" made front page news of the Lincoln News Messenger with an in depth story about the
adoption campaign and FieldHaven's shelter.
All adopters went home with a gift bag filled to the brim with all the necessities for setting up house with a
new kitty; litter pans, food, dishes, toys and treat were among the gifts.
