Did You Know
Is Your Fat Cat Eating From Stress?
Did you know that your cat's obesity might be the result of "emotional eating"? Extensive research has been done with rats. Rats eat even when full from just eating, when they are under stress. Although studies with cats are still experimental, veterinary researchers have stated at medical conferences, that cats may also eat excessively as a coping mechanism for stress. The latest research suggests that the benefits of exercising your cat come from the mental stimulation of the activity, rather than the calorie-burning. Always consult your vet first, to ensure no underlying medical conditions exist. Then make sure to include plenty of mental stimulation along with a calorie reduction and exercise for your kitty weight reduction program. |
